Lomi Lomi

Evelyn's fascination with Lomi Lomi dates back to her time in massage school in 2010. There was something captivating and alluring about this ancient bodywork that intrigued her deeply. Evelyn's personal journey with Lomi Lomi began in 2019 when She purchased an introductory DVD Temple style Lomi Lomi course. Recently, Evelyn traveled to North Carolina to attend an advanced Temple-style Lomi Lomi training, an experience that proved transformative and humbling. She immersed herself in the magnificence of Lomi Lomi. Evelyn is incredibly excited to introduce this mysterious and healing bodywork to her community

Lomi Lomi sessions usually begin and end with setting of intention. A Lomi Lomi session also involves a combination of energetic techniques. Approaches practiced traditionally by Hawaiians, like what you may experience during a craniosacral therapy or acupressure or energy work sessions. In a Lomi Lomi session strokes are long and flow from neck to ankle and back again. The practitioner uses oil on hands and forearms to work in a rhythmic motion like ocean waves combining breath work to induce a trance in both the practitioner and client. This trance is to allow the client to dive deeper into themselves and notice what all is connected mentally and emotionally to the pain and tension they experience in their body. No matter the type of stroke, practitioners incorporate breath throughout a Lomi Lomi session to keep energy flowing in both themselves and their clients.

Kumu Maka'ala Yates describes, "We are addressing all levels with our intention, the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual with the opportunity (depending on the therapist and their abilities) of communicating 'to the bones'...to affect on a cellular level a change so that healing can take place at a deep level. Lomi Lomi is deep, yet non-invasive while achieving the desired results."
